Blending In | Death Valley Superbloom

The superbloom in Death Valley was surely *super* and so was that matching silk silhouette by Few Moda.

Flowers coated the valley everywhere you looked - it was so beautiful! 

I collected a few of the wildflowers to take home with me, because I have a sketch book at home that is full of pressed and dried flowers. This was the perfect opportunity to add a little Death Valley magic in there!

Those sea glass rings are a new favorite addition to my jewelry collection, and I just loved the way they paired with the yellow flowers.

Springtime is the best time to be in Death Valley - the vibrant flowers, perfect temperature, nice breeze, on top of the amazing-ness that is Death valley, is hard to beat!

Sunrise on the Dunes | Mesquite Sand Dunes

I woke up at 4:00am in Death Valley to see the sunrise over the Mesquite Sand Dunes, and it was all kinds of magic.

The vibrant color that filled the sky, the stillness throughout the desert, and the brisk, morning air all helped in providing that magic on these dreamy dunes. So, we decided to go on an expedition to find the *untouched* sand - and, sure enough, we found just what we were looking for!

'May every sunrise hold more promise, and every sunset hold more peace'

Seeing the sunrise from an enchanting location such as this always wakes me up inside. To have the ability to start off my day with something so fascinating, really sets a tone for the day. A tone of possibility, eagerness, and drive - like, yes, I can do anything in the world! ::)

I hope this post inspires you to see the sunrise from somewhere new! I'm going to end with a song I feel is perfect for this message, as it opens with the following lyric: 'We've got nothing but time, to do what we like, so let's live before we die.' Keep livin' y'all!

Colorful Surroundings | Artist's Palette

Here I am, walking amongst nature's painting in Death Valley and taking in the most stunning views of the setting sun. This vibrant, natural-dream is the face of the Black Mountains and is called Artist's Palette. I figured this would be a great time to showcase one of my festival-inspired looks, brought to you by Urban Outfitter's festival shop, because those pastels complimented the look oh-so well!

When it comes to festival wear, I'm all for cute and comfortable - because the majority of my time is spent dancing to my favorite bands, letting loose and feeling the groove! So I just *have* to wear my dancing shoes - aka, my favorite pair of Chuck Taylors to keep up with that momentum. I always try to steer clear of sandals or anything with a  heel, because by the end of the day, my feet will be sore, stepped on, and dirty. No thank you!

There's also nothing better to dance the day and night away in than a nice pair of high-waisted denim shorts (oh, and Urban always has the best selection!) They look so amazing with this 70s inspired halter top, but you can really add any flare you want with them - like a rock n roll tee or a bathing suit top and still look like a babe! 

The last thing I added into the mix is that denim jacket for those late-night shows where the weather starts to get a bit breezy. It's always a good idea to have another layer on you - one that will add another element to your outfit but also keep you warm. Even if you find yourself using it as a seat cushion for most of the day! 

Superbloom in Death Valley

We finally did what we absolutely had to do - chase the Death Valley superbloom - and those beautiful, desert wildflowers were exploding with color everywhere I turned! I visited Death Valley during spring of last year and there were tons of flowers, but nothing quite like this. Flowers smothered the surface of the valley and added a whole new essence to the park.

We shot this series of photos when we had first arrived -- when it was raining and the winds were up to 50mph! Oh, and our plan was to camp in our tent -- which ended up being the worst idea (ha!) so we slept in the car! But hey, weather added a sense of mystery to these photos and I love it! Those thick, layered clouds and moody skies created such a nice contrast. Desert Portal | Mesquite Sand Dunes

Dear Desert Wildflower | Death Valley Superbloom

It sure is a gift to experience the desert during the springtime. In Death Valley, all sorts of flowers bloom and add a splash of vibrant colors to the scenery. Fortunately enough, I brought a pair of floral shorts along from Minty Jungle so that I could be a wildflower myself.

Here I am, standing in the lowest point of North America called Badwater Basin with an elevation of 282 ft. below sea level. The location is called Badwater Basin because the water literally is 'bad' and undrinkable due to the accumulated salts surrounding the basin. You can smell the salt with every breath you take, and your skin starts to feel a bit dry, but the location itself is extremely beautiful & worthwhile at any point of the day. I recommend a visit during golden hour, sunset, and at night to see the stars. If you're there during a full moon, that's even better because the cracks in the ground illuminate. I chose to wear this stunning top & skirt from Motel Rocks at blue hour to accentuate my favorite color blue & because the weather in the desert was perfect at this moment!

Sometimes we focus so much on a sunset that we forget about the allurement of the sunrise. Starting my day off with a colorful & inspirational, natural beauty was the best meditational remedy. I was lucky enough to experience it while atop the Mesquite Sand Dunes in Death Valley. I will forever remember this moment under the desert skies while my toes strolled through the chilly sand.
